I still kick myself for selling my 1960 MGA . . a car that was very close
to factory perfect that I paid $1,500 for around 1976.
I was moving up to the Bay area from San Diego to work on a masters
degree. I had a $75 month payment on it that I could have handled (in
hindsight) and it was almost paid off. But with a new baby (our first) and
the cost of school I talked myself into selling it . . what a mistake that
was.
And then we were living on campus in a nice 1200 square foot two bedroom
apartment in Marin Ca. overlooking Richardson Bay. Plenty of tame dear
roaming the campus.
On the weekends we would drive over to Sausalito. I would feel so bummed
having to drive an older VW fast back instead of a top down Brit sports car.
And to think about the value of that car, in that condition today. One of
the more STUPID moves of my life.
