I bought a new Fiat X1/9 in 1975. The timing belt was supposed to be change=
d every 50,000 miles. At 40,000 miles I sold the car to a girlfriend. At 5=
3,000 miles the belt broke with the engine running at idle while she was wai=
ting for a red light. At least half of the valves were bent.
