First, you have to understand who buys Miata's. Pretty little
early 20's college girls who buy the car for its cuteness and semi
status symbol. Unless they're california Beach girls, they refuse to
muss their hair in the wind. I have yelled at people on the road on
perfect days like today (Clear blue sky, Sunny and 78 degree's), who are
driving ANY convertable with the top up. I tell them "Give the car
away...You don't deserve it ! That top should be Down on a day like
today". Normally, they just flip me off, of course. But I'm taking a
stand damit !!

It should be a new federal law. When driving a
removable/articulated top vehicle under 10,000 lbs when the weather is
clear blue sky and the temprature is 70 to 95 degrees F, the top shal be
placed in the lowered or removed position for the duration of the trip.

Three strikes and you lose the car. If the driver receives three
tickets for failing to follow this order, he/she shall be deemed
"Unworthy" to own such a vehicle, and will be forced to sell the vehicle
at the next police auction.
