Assuming that the "9s.p.i." meant a 9psi radiator cap, it's now wonder
anything worked. I would think at least 14 psi more appropriate.

As for a whopping 9" electric fan, this is meant for cooling little 750
cc Honda's, not 260-289 Fords. My previous message about the 14 to 19
inch 1200 cfm to 1900 cfm fans are meant for cars (if it will fit!) BTW,
they make them to mount in front and behind the radiator. Make sure you
get the correct one or you'll be sucking air out of the engine
compartment rather than blowing thru the radiator. Who knows, maybe this
is the real answer afterall - if you can't get the air out of the engine
compartment , just blow it out the front! No kidding, David was correct
about this being a low-speed traffic aid, not a high speed cure. Maybe
sucking the air out and releasing the mechanical fan with an electric
clutch is a neat solution!
