In the same vein as your message on 235-50-13 BFG T/A's, I also have
used 2 of the same tires on 7" wide American Racing Vectors with
excellent improvement in lateral response over the former 185-70-13
BFG's, once used to solo at Michigan International Speedway when the
Midwest Tiger Owners club had an event in the mid-70's. The 185-70's
broke loose at the rear on at least one run but provided a much beeter,
streetable ride. Seems the tire would wind up like a spring under hard
lateral force and suddenly loose traction without warning. I was
running Konis all around, front and rear Addco bars, weld on Traction
Masters and the stock panhard rod at the time. I've also used Firestone
235-50-13 nylon belted bias plys on the rears with the 235-50-13 BFG T/A
radials on the fronts. Although I've read this isn't recommended, the
combination worked extremely well in that the bias 235-50's provided a
measured degree of slippage and permitted superb throtle controlable
rear drift. Alas, the reason for my response, does any tire
supplier/manufacturer still sell/supply the 235-50-13 tires in either
radials or bias plys? Every advertisement I've seen lists 215-50-13's
as a maximum width at that low a profile for 13 inch wheels, unless the
tires are simply not listed because of the low numbers of vehicles using
13" currently. Are 14" wheel and tire combinations the alternative of
Tiger owners in view of the declining availability of high performance
13" tires?
