Joe,

I just re-fixed mine. You'll find that the "2" speed motor is really a
one speed motor with one big voltage dropping resistor in series. The
switch, in the full-on position, passes the voltage to the other side of
the resistor to allow all 12 volts to the motor. The numbers refer to
the switch pole numbers, which are black on black on the switch. If you
follow the numbering, "off" is no voltage to the resistor, position 1
(middle) is through the resistor, and the final position is 12 volts to
the motor side of the resistor.
