Notchy brakes

Since we were on the servo and I'm down to working out the details vs
installing the engine ect..  When I depress the brake at the beginning
of its travel it feels notchy and it is hard to modulate the brakes at
light pedal pressure.  The brake master is new and I rebuilt the servo
myself (So my guess is I screwed up the servo)  but how?
