Although I've been attempting no-posts-unless-emergency, this was too
interesting (IMHO) to pass up. Over the weekend, I has reading some old
Automobile Quarterly's that are on loan to me. One article, "The New 1973
Line-up" (no prizes for guessing when it was published), shows photos, a
few specs, and a sentence or two on all domestic (except Checker?) and
captive-import cars; presentation seemed more Motor Barf than Automobile
Quarterly.
Had to re-read this one: "Plymouth Cricket Tiger". I think I've seen
reference to this before, perhaps even on the List. A Hillman Avenger (a
few of those running around the neighborhood when I was a kid) with the
boy-racer look. Stripes, a rear wing, etc., but no ponies to back it up. A
"rice-boy" special (see earlier posts from others, and flame _them_) a
quarter-century before its time.
So what? Except for perhaps the offset (the picture isn't particularly
big) the wheels look startlingly like LAT 9's. I didn't check the 'photo
credits' page, but the car would have to be too new for the pic to be
anything but one provided by the manufacturer, or one of AQ's own.
Unlikely, therefore, to be aftermarket wheels.
Gotta go, now. Need to run down to the local junkyard, see if there are
any Plymouth Cricket Tigers there. :-)
