Rear pinion seal

Hi all,

I'm looking to replace the rear pinion oil seal on my tiger. The shop manual
seems to
gloss over this pretty quickly. Is this really that simple? Does anybody have
any good ways to keep the pinion from rotating when removing the retaining
nut?
How hard will it be to pull the pinion off the splines? And most importantly,
will I mess up any of the preload by doing this?
