I run 3.31s in  my car and like the "middle of the road" ratio very much. I 
think even in Hawaii I would get tired of the revs required to run 65-75 with 
the 3.54s, maybe not (they aren't that far apart, after all).
I agree that for drag racing and dedicated autocrossing moving up to the 3.9 
to 4.1 range would be optimum. I just would never be able to live with that 
steep of gear day in day out. It also would be severely limiting in open 
track events (install a good rev limiter!)
Now that I think about it, if Chris' car has the stock 2.88s, I would want a 
600cfm vacumn secondary carb at the biggest...
