The first V8 '65 Mustangs that came out in April of '64 called '64 1/2's had
260 cid engines and generators.
All Mustangs up to the Mustang II shared the Falcon platform, but the "'64
1/2's" also shared the 6 cyl. powertrain wheels, brakes and many suspension
and driveline parts of the Falcon.
Engines, suspensions, brakes, driveline and upper body shape and structure
was continually up graded until the Mustang II came out on the Pinto
platform.
The color you refer to was called Poppy.
