Tim and Chris,
I degreed my cam in my hypo 289 a few years back and I was amazed by the
inaccuracy of the crankshaft, so I used an average crankshaft TDC to go from.
When I tried to set the cam to the cam grinder's specs, I couldn't get it
close. I finally determined the aftermarket non-name-brand timing set had
its keyways miscut by 7 degrees (14 crank degrees) putting my cam in
"funny-car-territory"! I bought a name brand set, and it was spot-on.
