Thanks for the information on Lucas Wiring, however I do believe you have
missed a
very important issue.
A few days ago you had answered someone on the question of the fusible links,
now
found on most American cars.
It should be noted that the actual inventor, and first reduction-to-practice of
the fusible link technology was Sir Joseph Lucas. He was so far ahead of his
time
that, since his first production design, he has provided fusible links in
virtually every circuit in the fine cars using his equipment.
If a circuit carries an overload, beyond it's design limits, such as the
addition
of added current drains like fog lights, map lights, radios, turn signals, high
energy ignition systems, every single circuit in the car is protected by a
fusible
link.
The entire wire burns out, breaking the offending current drain from exceeding
factory design limits.
This is hardly different than today's practice of concentrating the current
fragile circuit to a small area, and such statements are simply argumentative,
and
doing a great designer an injustice in not recognizing his ingenious foresight.
