Stu,

The hard top structure is many layers of sheet metal in that area, providing a
very stiff structure as a uni-body. You should see what replacement pieces
cost! However, an individual panel skin might locally bend.

It is, perhaps, more likely that the clamps could deform. Interesting, though,
how a large ham hand can wreak havoc amongst fine, precision British
craftsmanship.
