Uh,,, there is a vacuum connection. How do you think the air gets into the 
choke housing? The vacuum comes through the carb. It pulls the air through 
the choke heat box from the air filter then into the choke bimetalic spring. 
the air then passes into the carb body and on into the manifold along with 
the fuel/air mix.
