I need to find a place where I can buy a small quantity of Stainless
Steel shim stock.  I need 5 to 10 mils thick, about an inch wide, maybe
a couple feet long.

There are lots of places that will gladly sell me industrial quantities,
but I'm looking for a place that will deal in hobby/personal use
quantities.  Anybody know of a mail order or web place that could help
me?

This IS Sunbeam related, but I'll tell you how after I work out the
details.
