Offset d/shaft

There's a some offset of the pinion gear/shaft(it's not equidistant
between the left and right wheels), and on my 1A and some others, the
tunnel is stamped with an indentation on the passenger side on the rear
of the tunnel to clear the driveshaft. Are you saying that your
driveshaft doesnt clear that indentation?
