Tim,
        Had similar problem with a 2 barrel Holly on my Alpine V6.
The gasket between the upper and lower half of the throttle
body failed and it was dumping fuel.  Blown power valve did
the same thing another time.  Also had the internal vacuum port for the
automatic choke carbon up.  Real difficult to clean that out.
Get a Holly rebuild kit and go to it.
