Dave,

You state the following: "This procedure insures [sic] you will an equal
number of steering wheel turns from straight ahead to full lock left or
right." However, this cannot be correct, since setting the wheels straight
ahead at the center of travel of the rack is an adjustment strictly between
the wheels and the rack and has nothing to do with the steering column or
steering wheel alignments. Aligning the wheels wrt the rack must be done
first, and then the alignment of the steering column and wheel will follow
