Steve and listers,
Common thought.
I have run 10.0:1 motors on regular fuel a while ago and it was very
acceptable. In fact as early as 6 years ago I ran 11.0:1 Chevys with flat
pistons and angle milled heads on pump premium. (That would be a good
suggestion for Doug, by the way, as it would raise compression while
improving airflow - Old super stock Chevy trick with iron heads) It
usually is only possible with de-burred (polished) pistons and heads and
flat top pistons as I have with my stroker motor. While I have not actually
started my engine yet I hope to have it in the car in about another month. I
have been so busy Steve I have not yet completed the article but I have
documented everything with photos and will have a significant amount to
contribute soon. My latest project involved clearancing the firewall to
enable removal of the Tiger aluminum covers off of the twisted wedge heads
in the car without dropping the engine.
Bye the way.... I was very busy over X-Mas, I removed the engine complete
less water pump OUT THE TOP with the trans, starter, one Exhaust Manifold
and oil fittings attached and have photos for those disbelievers. I removed
everything from the engine bay. I repaired all of the rust in the right side
apron and exhaust cutouts and reinforced the cutout lowers and enlarged the
pass through openings. I have saved the templates for the firewall
modification and can take photos if anyone wants but you will have to wait
for the How To "story" I am having far too much fun actually working on the
car. I will be out of town for the next 2 weeks but will blast and refinish
the engine bay when I return and begin the reassembly...including the new
stroker engine Vroom Vroom. I may actually build some templates for a
cooling/air ducting fix as well.
Need to find a local Top loader Guy as David Kee in San Antonio is just too
far away $$$

Back to paid work.
