If you really intend to store your brake calipers for one or 2
years, I would recommend you do not rebuild them at all at this time. Take
them apart clean them, restore them the way you want, then assembly the
calipers without the pistons. Grease or oil the bores to prevent rust,
then store them in a dry place. Clean them again and rebuild them when
your ready to put them your Tiger.
The reason I make this statement is that as soon as you put grease
of any kind on the rubber it will start to deteriorate and swell. After 2
years the rubber could swell or deteriorate to a point where they are not
safe to use and you would need to rebuild them again. I just believe
brakes should be rebuilt just prior to installation.

Tigerers,
I'm rebuilding the front brake calipers on B9472504. This is part of a
ground up resto, so my question is, is there any type of lube...grease or
other... that will preserve rubber, pistons, caliper body..the internals,
for a year or two?
Thanks
