While perusing my printed copy of the Rootes Shop manual, I noticed a
picture of a sheet metal stop for the gas pedal. Needless to say, my Tiger
is without this little part. Is this a Tiger only part or is it common to
the Alpine?

This weekend's project was to do something about cockpit heat in my MkIa.
I am not suffering from a lack of it! I am just getting ready for this
summer.
I found that the rubber plug that gives access to the #8 spark plug was MIA.
I also learned there is another rubber plug that gives access to the last
valve cover bolt.

The other thing I did was to pull out the seats and all the carpets and add
a layer of insulation. I used the aluminized plastic bubble wrap. Called
Reflectrix, available at finer home repair stores everywhere. I slipped
pieces up the firewall as high as they would go, and covered the floors,
tranny hump and under the seats.
What a difference this made! Now the only warm item on the inside is the
gear shift handle. Prior to this, the carpet on the floor and trans hump
were extremely warm to the touch. Now the carpet is barely above air temp.
Th original tar mats were present and intact. I left them down and added the
bubble wrap on top.

Before you think I am completely daft, let me say that I live in SoCal and
we had two days week before last that were pushing 80.

After reinstalling the carpet, I checked how far open the throttles were
opening and found I was getting about 1/2! Some of this may be due to the
increased thickness but most is due to a mis adjustment by a previous owner.
After that was rectified , the car really woke up!
I don't really like the way the pedal sorta softly bottoms out on the
carpet, so I would like to find a throttle stop or get a sketch to make one
myself.
