A couple of points, the accelerator pump assembly may be warped and not
completely flat if in fact that is where the leak is coming from. Fuel is
very pervasive and can migrate along surfaces and then appear to be coming
from a location it is in fact not. My guess would be the Fuel bowl or the
metering block. 
Another possibility that you should consider is that the adjustment may be
to great over extending the diaphragm as you depress the arm that actuates
it from the accelerator pump cam ramp (plastic thing on throttle shaft) and
causing a small rupture. Yet one more is that there may be a sharp edge that
could be cutting the diaphragm inside the accelerator pump.

As for the pep boy stuff usually it works well but it is hard to beat the
OEM Holley stuff for quality.
