You may have found the solution with this. Last night, I installed the
new OEM Holley (green and black) accelerator pump assembly/gasket (The
other two I had in there were also OEM Holley, just not green and black
in color). Running and gunning it a bit last night after the install,
everything seemed dry. This morining I was meesing about with my timing,
as usual, and noticed....wet fuel on the pump assembly again! However,
checking around the front bowl, to make sure I had that on tight enough,
I noticed that the fuel line/pipe going into the front carb bowl was wet
also. I looked and felt along the front of the carb from there to the
accelerator pump and it wan't obviously wet along the way but there was
some fuel again on the pump again. Out came the wrench and it turns out
I was able to tighten the front fuel line nut (where the line fits into
the front bowl) maybe half a turn. I just got home after a good drive
and with it running checked for any embarrasing wetness and, as far as I
can tell, it's completely dry now. I might have had two different
problems, or the fuel "migrated" as you suggest. In any event, for now,
the problem seems to be solved.
