Drove the Tiger into a local alignment shop yesterday to get the wheels
balanced again. One of the mechanics turned around and looked at the Tiger
and said "you got the right engine in that car?" I was there over an hour
and had to crack the hood 4 different times for customers dropping by who
wanted to see the engine. One fellow went and got his brother out of the
car, "I told you that car had a V-8 in it."

It was of those Ma/Pa shops owned by the Dad in the 50's and now run by the
son since 1967. Frank spend over an hour on the 4 wheels (I was getting
steering vibration at around 60). He said most of the newer wheels have self
centering rings on them but these minlites didn't and he had to removed and
remounted and removed and remounted again and again to get each wheel
centered and balanced on the hub.

The first time a shop just removed them and threw them on a balancing
machine. Wrong. Frank did all work with the wheels on the car. What a
discovery to find these old times mechanics in small local shops who know
what they're doing. The Tiger accelerates through the 70's without a shake
now.

PS I was stopped for gas last week and 3 motorcycles pulled in on the other
side of the pumps. Shortly they came wandering over and one asked me if I
could open the hood. He said he told his buddies that there was a V-8 in the
car but they didn't believe him. The car simply gets lots of attention in
N.H. where there are many Tigers around.
