When I was running 10 psi boost on my turbo I installed a very simple
system. It consisted of a windshield washer bottle/pump, plastic hose,
adjustable in-line plastic needle flow valve control, and an inlet to
the carb with a plastic spray nozzle. The fluid was 50% alcohol/water
mix. If it doesn't work, then all you need is ice cubes.
When I was standing on it, and needed the extra knock less boost, I
turned on the pump for the "go-juice" phase. Very easy installation,
cheap parts, little fiddling for spray nozzle and meter valve setting,
and it works.
Now, Nitro this isn't. The power came from the boost, without pre
ignition. This just kept it from detonating, and loosing power. Same
situation occurs in high compression, normally aspirated engines, and
same cure works for the acceleration phase.
Now, for only $4,890 (parts) a solid state controlled system, with knock
sensor, is possible. Theo could probably knock one together in no time.
