I didn't realize the inertia fuel pump cutoff switches were generically
available, so I approached it from a DIY perspective. The pump relay
(driven by the switch) and fuse are definitely good ideas, and given
that you can buy the inertia switch, I'd go that way for the primary
safety aspect. Having the engine protection feature of an oil-pressure
cutoff would also be nice though, and if you can wire it so you get both
features then that's the best way to go.

My inertia switch has been in place for over two years and no problems
yet. And I've gone over some pretty big bumps, not to mention having
very stiff suspension.
