I believe you read the number wrong.
The 289 block from '66 to '68 is C6AE-6015-C.
The 302 block is C8OE-6015-A or C8AE-6015-B.
The cast #6 on the block looks like it is almost closed and may seem
to look like an 8 but the cast #8 very prominently looks like an 8; a small
circle sitting on a larger circle.

used to have a 280, but when I bought it the owners had said it is a 289
now.
These are the numbers C8AE-8015-C is these 289 or 302.
