I've been doing a bit of research on seat belt angles, and this evening
a lot of things came together. After I replied to Bob Nersesian's note,
of course.

The snail mail brought a copy of a page installation instructions from
SSNAKE-OYL, the seat belt restoration folks. Their instructions say the
shoulder belt should be no more than 40 degrees below horizontal, from
your shoulder to the mount. The closer to horizontal the better. Also
the lap portion should be "pulling downward and rearward at a 70 degree
angle (approx)". I assume this means 70 degrees as in closer to
vertical than horizontal. To my mind, both of these seem a bit extreme.

Visiting the Simpson site (
http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/catalog/restraints/restinfo_seating.a
sp ) I found some other opinions. Now, this is for 6 point race belts,
bit it is interesting. They say the lap belt should be at 45 degrees,
but not more than 60 degrees from horizontal. The shoulder belts should
be no more than 10 degrees below horizontal. If you poke around on
their site you will also find some interesting info on mounting
hardware, and how it should be positioned.

That's it for now. I'll let you know if any more info floats in.

Stu
