I dug out my LAT type Tiger fans and thought the following might be of
interest to members of the list.

The replacement 1969 part number fan C9DZ-8600-A is probably updated
version of the original 1964 part number fan C4DE-8600-A.

The C9DZ "replacement" fan is 15" in diameter with a 5/8" center hub
hole and aluminum blades which measure 4 3/16" wide. This is not a
"correct" LAT fan.

The C4DE fan is 15" in diameter with a 1" center hub hole and steel
blades which measure 3 1/8" wide.
The blade spacing "stagger" is the same on both fans. The pitch is
slightly greater on the C9DZ fan.

The box for the late C9DZ fan reads: C9DZ-8600-A FAN ASSY SP MADE IN
CANADA
The rear of each blade is die stamped "CF-C9DE-A [FoMoCo]", rear center
hub is ink stamped "MADE IN CANADA", front of hub is die stamped " P
13465" "FRONT"

The 1" hub hole C4DE fan is marked:
on the front of each blade (die stamped) "CF [FoMoCo] A-65", one
blade is ink stamped "C4DE-8600-A", center hub is die stamped "MADE IN
CANADA"

I believe these 1964 part number fans with the 1" hub hole would be the
fan you would have received if you ordered a "LAT" fan.
If you want to find one of these fans they come on early 1960's Ford
Falcons and Comets with 6 cyl engines with factory air conditioning, a
rare option. I have seen them on "other" early Fords with "air", but the
64/65 Falcon/Comets are the most common. 1962/63 Fords (that I have
seen) have the same fan blades etc., but the center hole is 5/8".

These "1" hub hole fans were probably pulled from the same "stock piles"
as the "special" Tiger engine parts, (the industrial Ford parts section)
as there aren't many early Ford 6 cyl. cars with air.

Any guess what the "CF" fan blade marking indicates?, Canada Ford,
Canada Fan? or?

Most fans are marked C4DE-8600-A, but this one is marked C4ZE-8600-A.
