Bob
        Somewhere in my readings I found a decode for the Rootes engine
numbers. I need to look to verify the source, so I'm not sure if this is
absolutely correct.

They are just date codes according to what I read.

F21KA = 6/21/64

B19KC = 2/19/65

        After looking at the engine numbers in TBON I would guess the Rootes
engine numbers correspond to the purchase order dates more than anything
else. This needs more investigation by inquiring minds. :)

Scott,

The "A" would be January, so January 18, 1965 is the engine code date.
According to Norm, the engines changed to "Old Ford Dark Blue" around
B382000601, which was around October, 1965. The Rootes engine numbers jump
all over the place versus chassis number, so it doesn't seem unusual for
that engine to be in a chassis built 11 months later. I haven't found out
how to decode the suffix of the Rootes engine number. They go from "F21KA"
to "B19KC" around the October '65 time frame, but spread out over several
weeks. Does the B19KC suffix correspond to blue and earlier suffixes are
black? And what is the correspondence, if any, between the Rootes number and
the engine block code date? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Bob
