I do not know what manifold you are considering, but it certainly is not
the stock 2 BBL.
I would personally recommend the Edelbrock Hi-Rise Performer 289. It is
the modern version of the F4B (which is till a good choice for the
originality person).
I can tell you, from practical experience, that there is NO way to
install a 4 BBL on a hi rise with anything between the carb and manifold
but the original gasket. The stock (thin) air cleaner sides will push
through even a LAT hood (contact and won't allow hood to close without
damaging the air cleaner). The 1/4 inch 302 Boss PCV adapter is too thick.
Look in the on-line Edelbrock Catalog and you will find the carb
dimensions. Probably the same as the normal configuration. I know the
F4B and the new H-iPo Performer 289 are nearly identical in engine fit,
slope, etc. ("A" and "B" dimensions.
If the catalog Avenger specs match the 1848, - 1860 line (460 - 600 CFM)
they should be OK.
I think Steve Sage has this carb, but do not think it is the cause of
his reported issues, Ask him. Moved, new email. On List.
