The factory fan has four blades... so you're using a PO-installed fan.
The ideal fan front-to-back location for any fan is such that about 1/2
to 2/3 of the blade is rearward of the shroud lip, but you definitely
don't want it hitting the radiator. You should try to have have at least
3/8" clearance between the fan and radiator. Removing spacer(s) to make
that happen is fine, but check to make sure that the spacer isn't also
performing some other centering or location function. If that's the case
then you can possibly keep its locating function just by installing it
onto the front of the fan.
