Hi Jim,
For a near-stock setup I would go with Rob Guerra's and Tom Hall's
replacement rear springs. You get a slightly stiffer than stock rate, about
1" lower than stock, and the same mounting dimensions as stock. Any reason
to not go with Koni shocks?

For non-stock, the ride is significantly affected by the unsprung weight (or
more correctly, the ratio of sprung to unsprung weight). The rear axle and
leaf springs are heavy, and the largest part of the spring mass is unsprung.
Going to a setup such as Steven Waybright's has huge benefits both in
reduced spring friction as well as reduced unsprung weight.
