Just backing up A.C's thoughts on the s10 tailhousing swap..... I read about
that in an article and then purchased a T5 out of an s10 on ebay, very cheap.
i plan to do a tailshaft swap on it to locate in closer to the Tiger's shifter
hole. the shifter is centered on the transmission, left to right, not off
center to the left like the original, but its final location is very close. I
think I can use a custom shifter handle to get the location further left. I
have test fit it in my tiger and it doesnt require tunnel mods due to the
slenderness of the tailshaft. so far so good.

Thanks,

I was reminded tonight about another alternative for installing a T-5 trans
in a Tiger. That transmission was also used in Chevys, including the S10
pickup.

An S10 tail housing can be installed on a Mustang T-5, which will move the
shift lever several inches forward. Again, I don't have the Tiger
measurements, but with the engine set as far back as it is in relation to
the driver, having the ability to move the shift lever forward sound like a
good thing.
