You can easily magnetise your  drain plug.  The next time there is a 
thunderstorm in your area,  climb to a high place.  Hold the drain plug 
in your hand over your  head.  Wait patiently.  The answer to your 
problem will come in  a flash.  Or you could try Theo's  solution.
