Hear in the salt belt, The aluminum shims actuallly

The shims are
tilting the cross member perhaps to provise
more clearance for the fan etc.

Joe- the spacers Mike
mentioned that go on top of the front suspension-
originally they are riveted
on- they are not round, so its easy to see they
don't go on the springs but
they do go between the frame rails and the
suspension- have two holes that the
two bolts that hold each side(total of 4
bolts/holes) of the suspension to the
car. Older ones tend to fall off as the
rivets rust and when the suspension is
removed, they sometimes stick to the
suspension, other times to the frame
rails- just depends on the area the car
lived in, if there was salt from
winter roads or dry desert type life for the
car. Alpines have the same part,
made of aluminum with an offset made into
them. I'm sure they are shims that
have more than one reason for Rootes using
them. If they did not have the step
in them, I would think they where just to
keep the two pieces of steel from
rusting and perhaps if we have a member that
know their real reason they are
installed, they would
post it.
Mike I wasn't trying to step on your post, so
please excuse me for doing so
but it was a bit confusing, considering he was
talking about round parts and
the two aluminum pieces I'm thinking you
mentioned are rectangular w/ 2
holes.
regards to all.

Joe, i always thought the rubber ring only
goes on the bottom of the
spring....( Sunb Spec sells them) an as far as allum
spacers, your not
confusing them with the allum spacers that go between the
suspension and body
are you? (bolt holes go thru them) never heard of an
allum spacer on the
spring....home made maybe
