Hey Steve,
 My one and only big hint is this:

Pull the coil wire and crank the engine 'til you can see oil pressure
registering on your gauge.  Then let the starter cool for a minute and
do the same thing again.

This will make sure that you have oil dripping down from the top of the
engine, that is, from the rocker shaft on down, so that there should be
no bare-metal to bare-metal wear upon re-start after you plug the coil
back in.
