John,
We here in the states are not privy to the inner workings (or failures)
of Her Royal Majesties last grasp of her empire. Too bad so many uninformed
folks here form their opinions based on the "love triangle" tabloid stories
we get thru our daily rags. I'm sorry "your" England no longer measures up
to the way you once knew her. We here stateside have varied opinion of how our
grand ol' US of A is deteriorating / improving. You no doubt have read more
than
you care to re:Smog checks etc. Some listers consider this a step forward,
others...
Well, needless to say, you are entitled to blow off a little steam now and
then,
especially after having contributed so much to the list in just the short time
I've been on.

Right then, I'll just sit here and read on, eh wot?

Dear all,

I've just had a real treat. The Last Night at the Proms.
Listening to "Land of Hope and Glory" and "Rule Brittania" sung by a packed
Albert Hall and 25000 people in Hyde Park, I was transported to a time when
England was a power to be reckoned with. When we were the world's policeman and
when the foreigners copied us. And when, gentle readers, we DID make the best
cars in the world.

Now I am back in the real world where we are at the beck and call of every
petty-minded bureaucrat in Brussels and our car industry is controlled by the
Germans and the Japanese. Where sentiments such as patriotism are frowned upon
and labelled "jingoism" and the "seeds of Fascism".

The truth is that I'm proud of THAT England but I'm not too sure about this
one. Where, oh where the bloody hell are our priorities???? I'm sure that this
means nothing to the majority of you lot but I just had to get it off my chest.

That's enough ranting.............back to cars tomorrow.

                                                                          JH
