If you have the single rail gearbox (originally fitted to '77),
it should be "next" to third gear. To the right and up.
You were correcting in pulling up to get past the reverse lockout.

Try looking around in and above the _drivers_ parcel shelf. (inside car,
small space on left of dash, on drivers side) You should find it in there.
