I bought a TR3 last month and am trying to get it back on the road. The
engine runs 70psi at speed and about 40 at idle, I do not hear any
knocks or any other funny noises. The fuel pump leaks and I will
rebuild it and the carbs. It is a bit touchy to start and sputters a
lot when running. After running it for a while and parking I notice
some smoke coming up around the edges of the hood. When I open it there
is a lot of smoke coming out of the oil filler. The cap is new along
with wire guaze in it. I do not think the car is running hot
(temperature gauge broke) as the radiator is full of fresh coolant. The
previous owner said he thought it had a burnt valve. Could that be
causing all the smoke from the filler cap? Or is it something else?
