Dateline: Succasunna (no joke) NJ, July 6, 1997:

Yes it's true! The stubborn Spit has responded positively to the latest
infusion of Tender(?) Loving Care and $$$....on July 5, 1997, at approximately
7:30 PM, the engine was coaxed to life for the first time in SEVEN years.
(With the help of some hefty jumper cables connected to a minivan, that is.)

Neighbors were amazed and impressed by the display of blue smoke (and the
bushel of mouse fuzz) that spewed from from the sleeping car's exhaust upon
start-up. To commemorate this momentous occasion, several surrounding
municipalities even set off spectacular fireworks displays!

The breakthough came after the oft-bewildered owner of the car discovered an
amazing feat of levitation: the carburettor floats were suspended in mid-air
even though the bowl was devoid of gasoline! After duly notifying the Enquirer
(see next weeks headline:" Two-Headed Alien Crash-Lands After Stealing Tainted
Petroleum Products. Elvis Unhurt In Accident"), the pivot pin was cleaned and a
new needle and seat were installed.

The owner's jubilation was short-lived, however. At the end of the driveway,
the first time the brakes were applied, the rear cylinders refused to release.
It took most of the engine's mighty 57 horsepower to overcome them and return
to the garage.

More news when it happens (or check out the tabloids)....
