Hey all,

Just a quick post.

Noticed a few people in the digest talking about tinting, paint prep and
the like. I will start to compile some of my old paint books into a list
that people can cross-reference. I'll check with my father and see if he
still has his paint books from the sixties (last time I checked he still did).

Most of the numbers I have are Dupont. Hopefully over time I can compile a
list that will help.

Knowing the correct paint codes is half of the battle. A quick tip for all
you guys getting your paint mixed. Ask the "jobber" mixing your paint for
the main tint used in the color. Get a sufficient amount to tint your
primer. When priming the car, you can get closer to the actual end color.
This will reduce the amount of paint needed in the color coat to obtain the
desired result.

Anyone can tell you, a lot of paint leads to cracking and premature finish
failure.

Good luck out there
