     Hey Jeff,
How about using a cork? It'd be about the right size, and it'd likely
stand up to gasoline. At least it wouldn't develop a leak.
Perhaps fellow listers can support/ridicule the idea.
     Regards,
     Jim Wallace

     Hello,
Does anyone have a spare gas tank float, for the gas gauge sending
     unit? ('74
TR6, round plastic float, about the size of a 35mm film container)
     Mine has
sunk. I repaired it once, which lasted for 6 months, then it sunk
     again. The
big mail order guys want to sell me the whole sending unit for ~$30.
