Priorities:

When you have no money
And the car works OK

RIDE, then wrench.

Get it back on the road and DRIVE ON!

You motor probably has lots of blow-by.  But if it has been working OK. 
Parking it indefinately will be more detrimental (to you and the car)
than running it.  These motors can take a lot of abuse.

Just my opinion.
