SPIT PROBLEMS PART II

First off thanks to all that replied on my previous letter.  I did reset the
timing it was off.   After reviewing the manual again, I found that I had set
for the wrong side of TDC.  (oh that drivers side  Opps!!).  After shutting
he car off I got a lot of gas flowing out of the throat of the carb, even
after disconnecting the gas line.  Any ideas on what would cause this, I
have no idea.
Still do not know if is running any better since it hasn't left the garage.
