Are the Flowtech and the Mocal the same? It may simply be the item which
is most commonly for sale in the US. The others mentioning the need to
modify the item did not specify the manufacturer, so one can't be sure.
It would not surprise me that American suppliers are buying an
aftermarket item such as this on price alone.

Moreover--the question is not one of leakage--when the center bolt is
tightened securely, the outer lip will seal against the square-section
outer seal very well. However, because that lip stands proud too far
from the plane of the inner o-ring land, the o-ring cannot contact the
inner land. Which means that dirty oil will bypass the filter and be
delivered to the engine. The leakage, is, in fact, entirely internal.
There's no external sign of a problem... until the engine wears out
prematurely.
