TR6 vibration & solution

Good morning:
As I have mentioned before, the Mistress has an annoying vibration (watch
it, Andy!) that comes in at about 3K rpm and gets worse. I ordered the full
complement of U-joints for the driveline (6) and took the prop shaft and
half-shafts to a heavy-duty truck place to be rebuilt. Upon examination,
the fellow in the shop suggested that the splines in the half-shafts were
borderline (barely perceptible play). I told him to go ahead and replace
all the joints and balance the prop shaft, as it was not likely that the
splines would fail and strand me on the way to VT for British Invasion.
(That and the fact that the replacements would set me back $500.) He called
me later in the day and told me that the prop shaft was bent! It will be
cut apart and rewelded straight, then balanced. That, in addition to
rebalancing the wheels, ought to take care of the vibration. Thought you'd
like to know...
