Does anybody out there know what the original color of my manifold might
have been? It's a single-casting combined intake/exhaust manifold from
an 1147 Herald engine, Solex B30PSEI carb, built in late '61.

More important question - what kind of paint/stuff should I use? I've
heard enough horror stories about ceramic coating (bubbling after 50
miles, flaking by 200, gone by 500) that I won't go that route. I'd like
to avoid having to take it all the way down to clean metal too, as it's
well covered with rust.

So, is there anything that shoots out of a can, comes in a variety of
colors, sticks to rust, is non-toxic and ozone-friendly, and withstands
exhaust temperatures for 20 years/20,000 miles, whichever comes first?
(Did I forget to mention inexpensive?) I'm interested in any success
stories, even if they fall a bit short on one or two of these
"requirements".

TIA,
Bill Kelly
