  Depends on the primary impedance of the coil. You can just
measure the DC resistance with a normal meter and compare to
the chart in the pertronix. I think as long as it's >2.5 ohms
you are ok.

  However, high output coils are usually the culprits that don't.

  (Sorry, there is no simple answer. 40,000V is the output voltage,
the pertronix cares about the primary current which is only
tangentially related)
